Balloon Vine Leaves - Mudakathan Keerai Adai

Balloon vines have a lot of health benefits and there are different recipes to make with it..
This sweet Adai is quick to make and also if you don't like the bitter taste of the leaves this is one of the best way to have them!! You won't feel like your eating leaves!

This recipe make 6 small Adai


Ingredients:

  • 1 and 1/2 cups Balloon Vine(mudakathan) leaves
  • 3/4 cup basmati rice 
  • 1/2 cup grated coconut
  • 1/4 cup raw sugar( more or less to your taste preference)
  • Pinch of salt
  • Water

Instructions:

  • Wash rice and soak in water for 15 minutes.
  • Wash and grind leaves with required water to fine paste.
  • Add rice, raw sugar, salt, coconut and grind until fine paste (should have appam batter consistency)
  • Transfer to a bowl and cook.
  • To make Adai, grease dosa pan with ghee and heat it.
  • One the stone is hot add small dollop of the batter and spread lightly, spread ghee on the edges and cook covered for a minute.
  • Flip and cook the other side for another minute.(as shown in video below)
  • Once cooked transfer to serving plate and repeat the same for remaining batter.
  • Serve hot as it is or with maple syrup or chocolate syrup.
